SPRING CONCERT 3PM MAY 3
Immigrant Musicians in America
St Paul–Reformation Lutheran Church
100 Oxford Street North • Saint Paul
Our life is so much more beautiful because of the contributions of composers born in German-speaking lands.
Axel Theimer left Austria at the age of 23 to conduct the choirs of St John's University, a post he held for 52 years, training thousands of choral musicians who spread across America.
Kurt Weill, born in Dessau in 1900, fled Germany in 1932 and brought his scintillating style to American theater.
We'll sing their music and much more in our spring concert on May 3.
Many immigrants unknown to us created folksongs and lullabies to remind them of home.
They brought a glorious tradition of singing together — music of high culture and low.
Come celebrate with us this wonderful heritage!
